Grand Valley Construction Association planning trip to Berlin

CAMBRIDGE, Ont.

The Grand Valley Construction Association (GVCA) is planning a trip to Berlin for members, spouses and guests, the first such offshore excursion to be offered by the association.

President Martha George said the Oct. 14 to 19 trip “will bring a new element” into the offerings of the GVCA and reinforce “the unique value” of membership in the association. The program is currently being firmed up.

“The architecture of the city is truly amazing,” said George who spent four “whirlwind” days in the German city in late

December checking out potential meeting spaces and accommodations and touring museums and various historical sites.

As of early January, about 80 GVCA members had expressed interest in participating.

“The idea was to put together a trip for a group of like-minded individuals that would be both educational as well as almost the trip of a lifetime.”

George said one of the events could be held at a Frank Gehry-designed facility.

Details are scheduled to be presented to prospective participants at a meeting next month. The GVCA represents 653 firms.
