Cambridge, Ontario to use Green Municipal Fund grant for sustainable community plan

The City of Cambridge, Ontario announced this week it has received a $60,800 grant from the Green Municipal Fund, which it is spending on a sustainable community plan.

The Green Municipal Fund was endowed by the federal government to the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.

The sustainable community plan is intended as a process that would generate an action plan to address energy, transportation, water, waste and brownfields.

Last month, the Regional Municipality of Waterloo, Ontario announced that it will use a $200,000 grant from the Green Municipal Fund to upgrade the Kitchener Wastewater Treatment Plant .

Waterloo Region is the upper tier of municipal government for the cities of Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo.

The city of London, Ontario announced earlier this week it would use a $50,000 Green Municipal Fund grant to map energy use , providing neighbourhood-level data on building energy use and estimated personal transportation energy use.
