Electrical contractor dies in fall near Winnipeg

CARMAN, Man.

An electrical contractor is dead after a fall from a ladder at a construction site southwest of Winnipeg. RCMP say the 58-year-old man was killed late Aug. 24 as he was unhooking power lines from a pole at a greenhouse near the town of Carman.

At the time, the victim was standing on a ladder that was propped against the pole.

Police say the pole broke and the contractor suffered fatal injuries when he fell to the ground.

The man’s name has not been released.

Workplace, Safety and Health officials are investigating.
