Vanbots continues construction on Energy Research Centre in Oshawa, Ontario

Construction has reached the top floor of the Energy Research Centre at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology in Oshawa, Ont. The building will be the future home of the Faculty of Energy Systems and Nuclear Science.
Construction manager Vanbots, a division of Carillion Construction Inc., began the four-storey research centre in late 2009 and completion is scheduled for 2011. The centre will have teaching and research labs as well as administrative and office space.
The centre was designed by Diamond + Schmitt Architects Inc.
Consultants are: Halcrow Yolles (structural) and Stantec (mechanical/electrical);
Subtrades include: Boyle Excavating Ltd.; Anchor Shoring & Caissons Ltd.; Gilbert Steel (rebar);; Avenue Building Corp. (formwork); Darlington Steel (structural steel); (structural); Dufferin Concrete; Mutual Mechanical; Ontario Electrical Construction Co. Ltd.; AGC Flat Glass; Semple-Gooder Roofing Ltd.; and Kone Inc. (elevators).
