VIDEO: Ontario General Contractors Association shows support for Gold Seal
All the directors on the board of the Ontario General Contractors Association have become Gold Seal Champions, part of an effort to help promote the national construction certification program.
The OGCA marked the occasion during a recent board meeting at the association’s Mississauga headquarters.
“The OGCA has been a long-time promoter of Gold Seal,” said association president Clive Thurston. “And today is very terrific evidence of that support.”
“They’re doing this in part to send a message to all OGCA members ... and to show that they do recognize that it’s an important program.”
Gold Seal certification is awarded based on a candidate's education, experience and ability to meet the program standards.
The certificate, developed by the industry for the industry, signifies that an individual has attained a “nationally recognized level of experience and competence” as a project manager, superintendent, estimator or owners’ project managers.
“Gold Seal certification involves training,” says John Preston, president of Stahle Constrcution, an OGCA director and a Gold Seal Champion.
“Through training (employees) increase their knowledge, their importance to the company, and it really looks good to the clients as well to be able to say that we have five, six, seven, eight, a dozen Gold Seal certificate employees in our organization.”
